PROGRAMS

Tobacco use continues to be the number one cause of preventable death and disease in the United States. It’s HCCA’s mission to help people quit, or better yet, not try tobacco and vaping in the first place.

  • Develop and strengthen smoke- or tobacco-free policies

  • Link communities and organizations to resources for quitting tobacco

  • Provide training and resources on tobacco and vaping, including evidence-based best practices for preventing tobacco use and exposure

HCCA works with community partners to:

  • In 2025, HCCA began providing in-school tobacco treatment in Kennebec County.

  • Students can participate in a supportive alternative to suspension program.

  • Students receive guidance and resources to help them reduce or quit tobacco use, promoting long-term health and wellness.

  • Tobacco Use Prevention Curricula

    Free, evidence-based curricula options for schools and youth-serving organization. Contact HCCA for support with implementation or staff training.

    Interested in implementing or updating a smoke or tobacco-free policy? Fill out the survey.

  • Maine Tobacco Retailer Training

    A free training for tobacco retail owners and employees to stay up to date on tobacco laws and learn how to block underage sales. Completion comes with the opportunity to receive a compliance check credit.
